Philodendron patriciae is a climbing species that produces extremely long, pleated leaves. It is one of the most sought after species within Philodendrons and was only first described in 2010! It is a native species from Choco in Colombia and is notable for its beautiful leaves of extremely intense color.

Care

Humidity and temperature

The wavy leaves in lush hues, makes it a fantastic plant that does well in a variety of environments. In addition, the plant needs only a small amount of water. However, the humidity should be higher than 75% for optimal growth, with preferably a temperature between 18°C and 32°C.

Substrate and drainage

Philodendron Patriciae needs a well-drained soil, where excess water does not accumulate and the roots have room to let air through. A soil that is too compact can damage a plant if too much water is retained. Therefore, a slightly moist and airy soil with a slightly acidic pH of 5-6 is preferred. You can create and refine your own mixture by adding organic materials such as compost, peat or moss. 

Watering and sunlight

This beautiful Philodendron Patriciae wants only moderate water and a little more in summer than in winter. This Philodendron also does not need an extreme amount of indirect light and can survive just fine in a position with shade. The plant will then adapt to variations in sunlight.
